The 2009 WSOP begins with a huge $40,000 buyin game to celebrate the 40th year of the World Series of Poker.
It only seems fitting that the legendary Doyle Brunson has made it to day 2 in this event with a modest chip stack. Doyle has been there for all of it. He was won two WSOP Main Events and has played in every one of them.
He even has his own poker room. Doyles Room has some neat tournaments and offers the chance to play the man himself, Doyle Brunson twice a week for as little as $11. His site does have some creative and fun tournaments not found at other sites too.
I am rooting for Doyle in every tournament he plays in this year’s WSOP. And you should be too.
The World Series of Poker kicks off Wednesday with the casino employees $500 buyin tournament. I will not make it to Vegas until late next month. That should give me ample time to take some more shots at a WSOP Main Event seat.
My current attempts are centered on Ultimate Bet Steps. Ten steps to a WSOP Main Event package. I started with step 3 for $1 and am currently at step 6 for $30. A long way to go but decent start for a $1 investment. More attempts will follow. Good Luck me!
Well, the WSOP is almost here. Exciting times for all. To get everyone who cannot attend into the action Full Tilt Poker has a couple of events.
First is the Mini Series of Poker. MSOP features 57 games that mirror the WSOP, but at 1/100th of the buyin of the real deal. It has a leaderboard and some prizes also. The kickoff game is a $5.50 buyin, so cash that and play them all.
The other…well I guess you will have to wait for my next post….
I think I will take a few shots at a WSOP Main Event seat in a couple of PokerStars $11+R 2xturbos. These seem like the cheapest and best single tournament short of freerolls to take a shot at that big seat. Poker has been doing well and I am more inclined to take stabs at bigger paydays as my bankroll grows. PokerStars has many more WSOP chances available including some freeroll events too.

All proceeds will go to the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation.
The Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation was started in 1985 when Founder and President Carolyn Aldige first understood the power of prevention to defeat cancer — and recognized that too few of the country’s resources were used to promote cancer prevention research or education. Today, it is one of the nation’s leading health organizations and has catapulted cancer prevention to prominence. Since its inception the Foundation has provided more than $74 million in support of cancer prevention and early detection research and education programs. CRPF peer-reviewed grants have been awarded to more than 250 scientists from more than 150 of the leading academic medical centers nationwide. This research has been pivotal in developing a body of knowledge that is the basis for important cancer prevention and early detection strategies.
About Bad Beat on Cancer:
Bad Beat on Cancer was started a few years ago by Rafe Furst and Phil Gordon to help fund cancer research and prevention – by playing poker. They ask professionals and amateurs alike to donate 1% of whatever they win at the WSOP. They’ve been extraordinarily successful over the last few years, raising over $1 million for a very worthy cause. It’s a very fiscally responsible organization, nearly 86 cents from every dollar goes to the cancer research programs that they’re funding. It’s a great organization and they have most of the world’s greatest players signed up.

So all I heard for the last couple months was “celebrity apprentice this, celebrity apprentice that”. Apparently a professional poker player named Annie Duke was on this show and did sort of well. While I have nothing against Ultimate Bet pro Annie Duke, I do have a lot against “reality” shows. Especially reality shows with celebrities in them.
Lets face it, not a lot on a “reality” show is real and watching them just encourages this kind of drivel to spew from the talentless necks of TV executives in ever-growing quantities. If you want quality programming, you have to vote with your eyes and not watch this tripe. Otherwise, I do not want to hear any whining about “the sad quality of television” from any of you reality TV watching junkies. You are the problem.
No, this is not a post about getting high and playing poker. There is a poker site called Reefer Poker. Yes, their theme is based on pot, but thats incidental to me. What I am writing about is a tournament this Sunday May 10th. Reefer Poker is running a Mother’s Day Madnesss $200 added tournament. For just a $2.20 buyin, you can play in this tournament with $200 added to the prize pool. It does have rebuys and an addon available.
This tournament starts at 5:20 pm et, which is 16:20 server time for them. Good Luck and enjoy.
Ok, today no rhetoric, no bashing anyone. I think I will just relax and play a few games on Cake Poker. Let injustice and tyranny play amongst themselves a while. I will exercise a freedom I still (partially) have while I can. Relax, celebrate Cinqo de Mayo or whatever else you celebrate. I think Europe celebrates liberation for Nazi Germany around this time of year.
So, take some time to have some fun. Tyranny and oppression will be there tomorrow.
