Maybe I am not as terrible at this game as I was starting to think. I ran into a couple of inconceivable bad beats Sunday. You know , the “how could you even think to play that” type of beat. Rather than get down on myself, I kept playing with a positive attitude.
I came to realize that “the fear” had its claws in me. Raise with KK, ace flops, you go into a shell and do not continue betting. thats “the fear”. Well goodbye to that. My wins Sunday were modest, but very encouraging. I made the final table of the Bodog Poker $5k guaranteed, then 2 hours later I bubbled the final table of the Bodog $3k guaranteed. I also managed to cash in Full Tilt’s Big Little Tournament, though barely.
The double deep runs were good for the soul. I feel good about my play. I am confident. lets see if the cash can continue to flow in.
Eight days of negative results. Eight days of bad poker. I finally managed a positive day. Monday was +221 with two second place finishes. One was in the Holdem Poker Chat League game at Doyles Room that runs every Monday night. The other was the 12:30 pm $1k guaranteed game at Bodog.
I did not play much else since my losing ways had my schedule seriously curtailed. I am back in the 12:30 game as I type. I have final tabled that game twice in a row before, so it seems to be a good matchup for me.
I was really into playing poker yesterday. I wanted to play. I felt my play was good and I was not doing anything dumb. Yet, I had to cash in the Bodog Poker Open at the end of the day to get back above negative. Some days are like that. Your Jacks run into Aces, your Nines come up against Queens. Analyze your play and if it was still the right play, do not get down on yourself.
Thirteen tournaments, played almost non-stop, +$20 for the day. And I am grateful for my $48 cash at the end for giving me a positive result
October ended on an up note. I managed to drive the total for the month up over $850. Not as high as I would have liked, but not horrible as it was a steady increase over the last couple weeks. my worst days over that time were -$20 or so but they were few. There were a few $100 days too with multiple cashes.
The Multiple cashes is the goal. stabilize that and the roll will grow. Spew chips and everything becomes more difficult.
I plan to start November with a bang by playing the first event of the Bodog Poker Open today. It is a $109 buyin with $15,000 added. Yes, i won my ticket into it, but soon I may be looking at those buyins as routine. here is hoping for that day and success this day as well. Have fun out there
Saturday and Sunday were profitable in poker and wagering. I went 6-1 on football, but the sweet part is Fonzi only followed one of my plays…the losing one. So I got a nice LOL out of that.
Winning is great, but winning and tilting someone else at the same time is even better. Following up on my Fonzi tilt, I managed to win a private tournament with $150 added at Bodog Poker. So I got to sneak into another forum’s game and take their money.
For bonus points, I also got all in heads up with 44 only to find my opponent had KK. The biggest tilt/win of all weekend was the 4 on the river to cripple him! Good times, good times. +260 for the weekend, cya.
Yeah I have been a lazy ass blowing off the updates here. No excuse, plenty of time just a poor effort on my part.
Sunday was a bit of a disappointment. I played the Bodog $100K Guaranteed again but this time came away with nothing for my efforts. I did manage to barely cash in the Full Tilt $200k guaranteed “Double Deuce”. Overall I would have broken even because the Bodog $100k ticket was free, but I blew $30 in a ring game. So I wound up -$31 for the day.
October is still positive but not as high as I would like it to be. +$350 but Saturday and Sunday I ran through $116 of a much higher positive balance. Oh well, its a new week. Focus and Calm. The roll needs a shot in the arm
Thanks to Bodog Poker for having their daily twitter trivia contest. If you are the first person to direct tweet them the answer, you win T$162 to play in the Sunday $100K. I just won another entry to the $100k. Last time I won this I manged to get ninth. Hoping to at least duplicate this feat.
The upside to that final table appearance is that it gave me points for the Cardplayer Online Player of the Year rankings. Thats right! I am big time. Well at 14374th, maybe not exactly big time, but its nice to be up even that high.
Poker has been bad, blew half my cash that I was up for the month.
My mood had gotten so bad, a.k.a being a horrible poker player, that I had to stop posting for a few days. That does not mean the losing stopped, but the hope was that changing up the routine might change my results.
Thankfully, there is a glimmer of hope. Friday I managed to play 8 tournaments. I won 2 of the private Holdem Poker Chat tournaments and got 4th in a Bodog 15 Days anniversary game. Total for the day +$121.87.
This is , hopefully, a harbinger of things to come and not just a lucky result amid a storm of failure. Time will have to be the judge of that, but at least the doom and gloom has lifted, albeit briefly.
Well after Tuesday’s debauchle I almost shut down for a day. I played some freerolls and the two Holdem Poker Chat league games and not much else.
I managed to win the Bodog HPC game but that was all the success I could muster. I finished the day +$4.97 and counted myself lucky to do so.
Sadly, I did not make the points in the OFC game Sunday. Thankfully, the rest of the Holdem Poker Chat team stomped the daylights out of every other forum. We had players finish 1st and 2nd with 4 in the top 30. A real fine ass whoopin!
While I was playing in the OFC, I started a couple $5k guaranteed games. I busted out of the Bodog one pretty quick, and since I had Reefer open already I played their community freeroll ($2,500). Well, 6 hours later I had won the Cake $5k for $950 or so, and I got 3rd in the Reefer freeroll for $202.
The day: Six tournaments and two ring games. I cashed three of the tournaments and overall was up $5 for the two rings. Net total for the day +1,168. Ah, now if every day (or even one per week) could be like that! I will play a couple games of interest today, but I anticipate no big risks as I bask in my recent accomplishment for a day or so.
