Poor Month

Well, November was a poor month with a $390 profit.  Some would say “well you made money”, and while this is true one has to consider that I was +$314 for November 1st!

You read that right, +$80 for 29 days following.  Pretty sad.  At least this month’s Holdem Poker Chat marathon was profitable (+$40).  but the month itself is a major disappointment.  I am starting December slowly and seeing if I can fix my play to become more profitable.

Sadly, I think I need to move away from the Cake Network.  the structure pays too many people, its too top heavy and the blinds are too fast.  I never liked PokerStars structure and it seems Lee Jones is destroying the good part of Cake and turning it into PokerStars Lite.  Gotta tell ya Lee, there is already a PokerStars.  the people who want 25% payouts and only doubling your money at the final table are already playing there.  At least the original has decent blinds structure.  You haven’t even got that.

Ship it!

Sadly, I did not make the points in the OFC game Sunday.  Thankfully, the rest of the Holdem Poker Chat team stomped the daylights out of every other forum.  We had players finish 1st and 2nd with 4 in the top 30.  A real fine ass whoopin!

While I was playing in the OFC, I started a couple $5k guaranteed games.  I busted out of the Bodog one pretty quick, and since I had Reefer open already I played their community freeroll ($2,500).  Well, 6 hours later I had won the Cake $5k for $950 or so, and I got 3rd in the Reefer freeroll for $202.

The day: Six tournaments and two ring games.  I cashed three of the tournaments and overall was up $5 for the two rings.  Net total for the day +1,168.  Ah, now if every day (or even one per week) could be like that!  I will play a couple games of interest today, but I anticipate no big risks as I bask in my recent accomplishment for a day or so.

Well I managed to play the Cake Poker $10k Bounty.  Sadly I did not fair well.  I managed only one bounty before getting whacked.

Thursday’s total is 5 tournaments and 1 ring game for -$37.50.  I played ok so no confidence hits, just ran into better cards at the wrong times.  Will try to right this ship today.  No big plans for what to play yet, I will just play it by ear.

Eleven tournaments played on August 21st.  I only cashed in two of them sadly.  However, If I played only those eleven, I would have been up almost $40.

Sadly I played a couple of cash games and ran into some of the most astounding beats.  Astounding for the amount of money they called down before they actually had any hope of winning.   Oh well, I just reinforced some calling stations for the rest of you all.

The end result fot August 21st was a sad -$10 loss.

Oddly enough, both my tournament cashes (1st and 2nd) came on Cake Poker.  It seems I can do no wrong on Cake.  Oh well.  Onward to the new day.  See ya tomorrow.

I keep forgetting to post here.  Its not that I do not have anything to say, its that I am becoming feeble minded in my old age (45) apparently.

My new plan is to post every day with an update of how poker went the day before.  If no poker, then a brief apology for CM (crushingly mundane) tasks intruding.

To kick it off, here is a rundown of Thursday August 20th.

+$114 at Cake Poker.  I won the HPC league game with $25 added and crushed a private bounty tournament.

I managed to drop $15 at a couple other sites then decided to rest on my laurels and hit it again today.  Let you know how that goes in tomorrow’s post.

Sorry to not have posted for a while.  I went to the WSOP and played a couple of smaller bracelet buyins.  We went to a lot of parties put on by poker sites and got some great gear.  the Cake Poker mini chipset was probably the coolest promotional item, but all the shirts and hats were much appreciated too.  More on the trip in future posts
